Play to Work and Work to Play
Work Play Body® reads comprehensively left to right. As a state machine, it reads right to left. Day in and out, we transition between those big states. In doing so, we must prepare the body before it begins to play and then takes on weights of work, transitioning back and forth from play-to-work to work-to-play. As we wind down, we relax the body the same way we prepare it, the conceptual state of the Work Play Body® brand. Powered by the science of Applied Functional Science® and delivered through the clarity of Human Movement Coaching™ and personal investments. The importance of investing in self and in others to achieve optimum health.
VISUAL TRANSITIONBODY, The State of Tuning; Here, we warm-up and cool-down the body before and after play and work, keeping the body tuned for an adventurous and enjoyable day.
PLAY, The State, we execute three-dimensional movements in six transitional zones. We are using no more than ten percent of the body's weight.
WORK, The State of tradition. Here we take advantage of traditional loading, playing with weights higher than ten percent of our body weight.
MISSIONWe are part of a global network of over one thousand Fellows of Applied Functional Science® located in over 26 countries trained by the Gray Institute for Functional Transformation in Adrian MI. Working with one of us is like receiving input from all of us. The community is committed to helping our clients and patients function optimally. The principal truths of biology physics and human behavior is where we begin and end. These truths allow us to coach you organically, seeing you as an individual with unique needs. We help you develop habits that thwart the limitations of your movement today and as you age.

TARGET MARKETIt’s true; all age groups benefit from working with a Fellow of Applied Functional Science® (FAFS). In this practice, we find the population that calls on us the most is over 40, and we understand. It is in this period of life we all begin to experience functional limitations that are not present in earlier years. The bottom line, we need to move better and keep injuries under control, or realistically reduce the possibility of incurring occupational or recreational damage. And this is why you hire a Human Movement Coach.
FEATURED TESTIMONIALDerak's training and bodywork provide miraculous results. I've worked with several trainers, physical therapists, and massage therapists to heal old dance-related injuries in my back, hips, hamstring, and foot. However, these issues remained chronic — until I started working with Derak. Though admittedly, I was skeptical of the training (the exercises he teaches are unlike anything you have ever seen), the results have positively shocked me. After diligently performing the sets every day, I've witnessed major changes in my body. My chronic pain has disappeared. I'm as limber as I was a decade ago. I feel a freedom in movement, whether in dance, yoga, Pilates, or simply walking, that I have not felt since I was in college. I'm a huge believer in his program and have no doubt he can help anyone feel spritely!
Anna Roberts Writer, San Francisco, CA BEFORE YOUR FIRST SESSIONUsing the Gray Institutes 3D Movement Analysis & Performance System (3DMAPS), we conduct a three-dimensional assessment to identify how your body moves in a three-dimensional plane through six transitional states. The purpose of finding your success code.
Your 3DMAPS analysis helps us uncover your unique framework based on the incremental truths of how your body responds to mass and momentum as motions trigger your real and relative movements of bones, joints, and connective tissue. We provide the clarity needed; you deliver the actions required; teamwork to your benefit. |

3D MOVEMENT ANALYSIS & PERFORMANCE SYSTEM
3D … The human body moves three-dimensionally. All proprioceptors respond, all muscles react, and all joints move three-dimensionally. It only makes sense to analyze and progress the body three-dimensionally.
Movement … Lunges, reaches, squats are paramount in the day to day active life. These movements are authentic to the individual and relevant to what the individual does.
Analysis … Analyzes the entire body’s mobility (flexibility, the range of motion) and stability (strength and movement control) and then identifies a Relative Success Code that describes the individual – based on symmetries, asymmetries, and disabling pain within the movements.
Performance … Enhances the function of the individual and progresses systematically and scientifically for optimal function and improvement.
System … Performance Movements parallel Analysis Movements, thus creating a seamless and intuitive process for both the practitioner and the client.
